What is 'CANBUS' ?
Strange name we know, but the
industry term 'CanBus' is a multiplex 2-wire interface that is used
to connect several vehicle components to establish a communications
network. Rather than normal electrical signals, CanBus uses
computer data (a bit like a telephone cable) to control the car
functions. It effectively reduces the amount of cabling in your
vehicle, which also reduces both cost and weight.
Our CanBus products are connected to
these 2 wires and these signals control our products
functions. Likewise, our products can communicate with the
vehicle's CanBus so we can comntrol parts of the vehicle.
Vehicle manufacturers use their own
CanBus 'language code,' which can differ between their own
models. Products like our 'Exclusively Toyota' range are only
suitable for Toyota passenger vehicles - they will not work on any
other make or model, whereas our MAP70 is universal and via a
personnal computer, Mongoose programmes each alarm system for a
specific vehicle.
